Midhurst Rother College students had the opportunity to ask the local MP Andrew Griffith questions on topics of their choosing on Friday.
Politics teacher Julie Wilkie and Vice Principal Philip Lloyd welcomed Andrew Griffith to the final class of the week made up of Year 12 and 13 A Level Politics students and Year 12 A Level Law Students. The students were given the opportunity to press the MP on current affairs and topics they have been learning about.
The students asked thoughtful questions that ranged from the role of European Court of Human Rights to the role of the Police and Crime Commissioner within a Strategic Mayoral Authority. The students also asked Andrew about immigration, welfare reform, and his views on local planning matters.
Andrew Griffith said:
“It was a pleasure to speak to the Midhurst Rother College sixth form students and to have the opportunity to answer their questions, which I did so openly and honestly. There is no substitute for such face-to-face engagement, and it was great to see that the next generation of students from Midhurst Rother College were informed and engaged. My thanks to their teacher Julie Wilkie for inviting me to her class.”
