Arundel and South Downs MP, Andrew Griffith, visited The Anglesey Arms in Halnaker to meet landlords Dom and Shell Roberts and to hear more from them about what it takes to run a successful pub and restaurant.
The Anglesey Arms won the Punch Pub of the Year award at the this year’s Great British Pub Awards. The pub received this recognition for its strong performance in hospitality and community spirit.
Andrew spent time with Shell and Dom talking about their long-standing experience as small business entrepreneurs in the pub industry and what it takes to turn a pub into a successful business. He also spoke to them about the many challenges that publicans face with rising staffing costs and business rates which is impacting the hospitality sector.
Shell and Dom have developed The Anglesey Arms into a cosy and welcoming pub and restaurant with a seasonally updated menu. They are also proud of developing their staff’s skills to promote them within the business.
Andrew Griffith MP said:
“Congratulations to Shell and Dom for their accolade as Punch Pub of the Year. The Anglesey Arms is a fine example of South Downs hospitality – with a warm welcome and great food and beers. I wish them continued success and a busy Christmas season.”
