Despite the complete lack of popular support or even agreement amongst the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green chaotic coalition who run West Sussex County Council, the government continues to consider breaking up West Sussex into multiple new authorities. That would mean new school catchment areas, double the number of town halls and delays to road repairs where they would sit in different authorities.
It’s a costly and unnecessary distraction when local government should be getting on and doing their job: fixing potholes, educating children and keeping council tax low.
Remember, you were never asked about this, and it was not in the government’s election manifesto.
Secretary of State for Local Government, Angela Rayner is expected to decide this October. In West Sussex we have won delays already whilst other areas have had plans forced on them already. So, I am asking for your help ONE LAST TIME to save our historic county.
That is why I am launching a petition and asking for your support. Every signature sends a clear message to Angela Rayner that the people of West Sussex want her to leave us alone.
Once I have gathered the signatures of as many residents as possible, I will present the petition on the floor of the House of Commons.
Please sign the petition and share it with your neighbours.
